Je nachtverbruik bepaalt de maat. Panelen en omvormer laten meer toe, maar meer opslaan dan je 's nachts opneemt levert niets op.
Op een vast contract verdien je aan zelfconsumptie, en die vlakt hard af. De stap van 5 naar 10 kWh levert 3 procentpunt op: 30 tot 50 euro per jaar. Als losse uitbreiding kost die stap 1.200 tot 1.800 euro, dus je kijkt tegen 24 tot 60 jaar aan op een apparaat dat er 15 tot 20 meegaat. Nog steeds een slechte investering, maar niet de 70 tot 150 jaar die je krijgt als je hem tegen systeemprijs afrekent.
